Patwin Recycle Plan
Check out this document to find out about how Patwinners do their part to RECYCLE: Patwin Recycle Plan
Welcome to all the new and returning students and families to Patwin. Periodically I’ll have updates in the newsletter as to what’s happening in the gardens and with recycling on campus. If you have anything tocontribute, please let me know.
First off..... This is a call for someone to take over the Make No Waste Lunch Days. I was hoping actually to find 4 parents who are willing to coordinate this very popular program. Once a week (the day has not been determined yet for this year) students earn Earth Buck Tokens for bringing a waste free lunch to school. The students save up their tokens to buy prizes and/or treats. The program coordinators would arrange for a parent to distribute the tokens. Since there are only 2 lunche periods this year, the time commitment is 45 minutes a week. If four people manage it, each would only have to go once per month.
If I don’t get anyone to take over the program, Patwin will no longer be participating in it. So, please, someone step up to the plate so that we can keep this great teaching tool going.
Secondly..... Thanks to last year’s lunch time garden club and our summer waterers we have a successful vegetable garden in the raised beds near the kindergarten playground. If you have an interest in gardens
and would like your child’s teacher to incorporate gardens into their curriculum, please let them know and offer to help them out. I will be maintaining the gardens and planting as the seasons change. There’s lots of opportunity to help with planting, watering, harvesting, cooking, and food processing. The sky’s the limit. If you feel creative and have the time to do a project or two with your child’s classroom, let me know.
We’ve got the tomatoes for a salsa making fest, and we have popcorn, amaranth, eggplant, cucumbers and hopefully some peppers will finally emerge of help.
