Welcome Back
Welcome back parents and students
Your son/daughter is now a member of the Combined Jr. High School
Orchestra. Your Jr. High community is proud of its music
department, of which this group is a very important part. Our
standards reflect the
high expectations we have of each student and for ourselves as
their teachers.
Parents, too, are an important part of our success. Without your support, the standard of excellence enjoyed by the orchestra can not be achieved. The most current list of dates in which students will be expected to perform or rehearse outside of school hours is currently being sent home. As stated in the course description packet from which students select classes in the spring, you will remember that attendance at concerts and rehearsals is required and is used as a percentage of the grade in the course. You will be notified of any additional required dates or date changes as soon as they are known via in class announcements and listserv emails. These dates have been entered on the school and district calendars as well. Further, this year, we will be posting a Secondary Strings Event Calendar on our website:

Holmes, Harper, and Emerson Jr. High Orchestras all perform
together as a combined ensemble. This makes it necessary to have
a few rehearsals together outside of school hours. You will
notice on the orchestra
events calendar that a couple of Sunday and Saturday afternoons
have been scheduled for this purpose.
The students and their conductors will work hard throughout the
year to represent ourselves and our schools in a positive manner.
I hope you will plan to support the efforts of your child and his/her
performing group by your encouragement of musical progress at home as
well as by your attendance at concerts, festivals and other school
events. Young people this age need parental support whatever the
activity, and you have been exceptional in that regard over the
years.
Your involvement is always welcome and appreciated by the students and teachers. We look forward to a great year of music making together and serving you and your students,
